I believe the biggest area of growth for Cougar Football must be the development of the Offensive and Defensive lines.
On offense WSU loses 3 of their top 10 linemen to graduation David Gonzales, B.J. Guerra and Andrew Roxas. Sr. tackle Wade Jackobson, 6’6″, 305lb, wil hopefully return after back surgery which could bolster depth. Jake Rodgers, 6′ 7″ 297lb,Dan Spitz, 6′ 7″ 300lb and Rico Forbes 6’6, 285lb will compete for the tackle positions. Left tackle will be the biggest void to fill.
I am hopeful that Matt Goetz will make amends with Coach Leach and return to his center position along with Taylor Meighen, 6’3″, 283lb and Elliot Bosch, 6′ 4″ 265lb as back ups. Guard will be an area of concern with the loss of Guerra, but my hope is John Fullington will improve on the left side and Chas Sampson, Meighen or Bosch will step up on the right side. Possibly some combination 0f Christ, Eklund, Shirley, Hurlburt or Kaleta will make a contribution to the O lines depth by Spring Football.
A large group of Freshmen Offensive linemen will provide depth for the future. Only Denzel Dotson, a 300lb Guard from Arizona, will show up before next summer or fall.
